If you think the adult is in immediate danger – dial 999 and ask for the police.
There are a lot of organisations that deal with specific issues, go to the Preventing Abuse page and have a look at the different abuse types to find out more.
If you think you or someone you know is being abused, or neglected tell someone, don’t wait until you’re sure.
There may be times when you are uneasy about the behaviour and actions of other people, you may be unsure what it is about the situation that raises your suspicions. That is OK, we are here to provide advice and support.
Telling someone is the first step to help you, or someone else escape an abusive situation or to get advice to manage the risk.
You can find out more about the types of abuse and what to look out for (the signs and symptoms) in the Preventing Abuse section of our website.
We’re here to help, get in touch.
