Trading Standards – Scams

Thurrock Council’s Trading Standards are seeking residents, businesses and charities to help tackle scams in the community by joining Friends Against Scams, a National Trading Standards initiative which aims to protect and prevent people from becoming victims of scams by empowering people to stand against scams.

Scam Marshal Scheme

Are you, or someone you know, inundated with scam mail?

Are you tempted to respond to it?

Do you want to help track down the criminals behind scams and help put a stop to their activities?

If you answered yes to any of the above then why not become a Scam Marshal for the National Trading Standards (NTS) Scams Team.  The NTS Scams Team is funded by National Trading Standards and was founded in 2012 to tackle the problem of postal, telephone and doorstep scams. The team works across England and Wales with trading standards and partner agencies to investigate scams and identify and support those who fall victim to them.

Stay Safe From Courier Fraud

Essex Police are reminding people in Essex to be vigilant following reports that fraudsters are attempting to take advantage of the current climate by carrying out crime online and at people’s doorsteps. This helpful poster gives some simple steps to take to protect yourself.
